3 Things I Learned on My Weight Loss Journey

Some of the revelations from my own weight loss journey:

𝟭. 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗱𝗼𝗻𝘁 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹 𝗵𝘂𝗻𝗴𝗿𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝘄𝗲𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁

Most people get hungry, because they choose wrong foods to start with.

Many years ago I bought into the idea that you have to suffer and white knuckle your way through a scarce diet, in order to get rid of the fat.

I discovered that is not true at all.

Choosing foods that make you a fat burner (protein and fat) over carbohydrate achieves 3 great things:

  •  You are satiated much longer
  •  You body receives the raw material it needs to build/regenerate tissues
  •  Your mitochondria produce 4.5 times much more energy and the same amount much more structured water!

𝟮. 𝗖𝗶𝗿𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗿𝗵𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗺 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗺𝗽𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴

Some of my clients could not believe this, but fixing their circadian rhythm was the one thing that worked for them to start losing weight. When they simply tried counting calories they were not losing any weight at all. This is especially common after 40.

𝟯. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗼𝗻𝗲, 𝘄𝗼𝗻𝘁 𝗻𝗲𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗹𝘆 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂

All the diets I tried since my early teen years, all the lifestyle habits, workouts and supplements I tried to copy from ‘experts’, didn’t work for me.

We all have a different set of factors that’s paramount to keep in mind for our weight loss journey. Here are some:

  •  Your maternal haplotype (genetic test)
  •  Your leptin situation - are you leptin resistant?
  •  Your skin’s Fitzpatrick type (melanin / vitamin D)
  •  Your light environment
  •  The population density where you live
  •  The latitude where you live
